Rowan’s time at Merrifields

Rowan’s time at Merrifields

24/03/2025

After 13 years with Merrifields, Rowan, our Agency Surveyor, is moving on to new opportunities. As his time with us comes to a close, we wanted to take a moment to reflect on his contributions and the positive impact he's had over the years.

Over the years

Rowan joined us in April  working in the Agency department, where he focused on letting and selling commercial properties. While working, Rowan completed a two-year, long-distance Postgraduate Diploma in Real Estate Management.

After finishing his diploma, he started his APC (Assessment of Professional Competence) and became a Chartered Surveyor in 2017.

Since then, Rowan has been a key part of Merrifields' Agency department. He’s helped bring in new clients and grow the team. His work includes letting and selling shops, offices and industrial units, as well as dealing with commercial property investments and development projects. He’s also been involved in acquisition work for investment and occupier clients.

Highlights

Over the past 13 years, Rowan has been involved in several notable projects, contributing to the development and management of key properties:

  • Advising on the sale and re-development of land, which led to the creation and letting of Breckland Retail Park in Thetford.

  • Overseeing the sale of Chase Road Industrial Estate and managed Merrifields appointment as Asset, Property Managers and Letting agents.
  • Leading the acquisition and revitalisation of Sharon Road Industrial Estate in Bury St Edmunds.

  • Providing management and agency support for mixed-use premises at 2 Cornhill and 10-14 Woolhall Street.
  • Delivering agency services at Burrell Way Trade Park in Thetford.

  • Guiding the letting and sale process for Atex Business Park in Stowmarket through development and agency advice.

  • Playing a role in shaping Bury St Edmunds' town centre through numerous retail lettings.

As well as his achievements, he’s played an important role in modernising Merrifields’ brand and marketing. He also brought the team together by organising the ‘Great Merrifields Bake Off,’ where he’s been a two-time winner.

The next steps

After years of advising clients, he is now turning his attention to his own property interests. He will be leading Cornhill Commercial LLP, a Commercial Property Investment and Development company, while remaining active in the local and regional markets. Drawing on the strong connections he has built over the years, he looks forward to continuing his work in the industry.

From all of us at Merrifields, we wish Rowan every success in his new venture. He will be missed.
